I'm trying out the Gneucleous file sharing program since I couldn't figure out the WinMX one. (WinMX now seems to be asking more specific questions about the computer which I don't really understand.) Anyways, I can get around the menus in Gneucleous fine, but how do you search for something, as I can't find an edit box, yet, and I tried the Browser button, but can't navigate that either. (I downloaded Gneucleious and it's scripts from the JFWLite page. If any of y'all have used Gneucleous and can help me on this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. *smiles*
Hi,
Are you behind a router / firewall? If you are, you need to open the ports for the Gnutella file sharing network (I'm not sure what those are, as my router has an option for that built in). Gnucleus used to work fine for me up until this last summer, and then it stopped working (it wouldn't let me search for something). Opening the Gnutella ports fixed the problem. By the way, to search for something, once you open the program and after it connects to the Gnutella network, just tab around until you find the search button and press space. You'll then land in an edit box. If you don't find the search button, there is a problem and you are not connected to the Gnutella network.
Hope this helps.

Thankss. Yeah, it must be the routers or firewall thing. I can't find a search thing anywhere at all. I really don't understand about how to change the router or Gnutella ports thing. How do you get to that? I mean what are the steps to doing that? I have ZoneAlarm firewall by the way. All it asks is if I want to allow Gnucleus to run (well basically that's what I think it's asking), and so I select "allow" for that. But so this has to do with Gnucleus specifically then? I mean, that's where I would go to fix the problem?
